A finely preserved pair of Late Roman / Early Medieval bronze tweezers, dating approximately from the 4th–7th century AD. Crafted from a single folded strip of bronze with gently tapering arms and precision-aligned tips, this utilitarian object reflects the everyday grooming and hygienic practices of the transitional period between the Roman world and the early medieval era.
Such tweezers were commonly used for personal care, medical procedures, and cosmetic grooming, and are frequently recovered from settlement and burial contexts across Europe and the Mediterranean. The simple yet effective design remained largely unchanged for centuries, demonstrating the enduring practicality of Roman craftsmanship.
The piece displays an attractive aged patina with minor surface wear consistent with age and archaeological preservation. An excellent example of personal accoutrement from Late Antiquity, suitable for collectors of Roman antiquities, early medieval artifacts, or ancient medical instruments.
